Location: LangLab South Bend, 1302 High Street, South Bend, IN 46601. Enter at "Office Entrance"(doors open at 9:30am EST) with our yellow/blue Dharma flag out front.
When? We meet on Sundays, bi-monthly, beginning promptly at 10:00 a.m. (please arrive by 9:50 a.m. to settle in). During the year we pause for both a Winter Holiday & Summer Breaks. Visit our Events Calendar for current session dates and details.
Sunday Drive is arranged by 'Seasons' consisting of 8 Sunday sessions (meeting two times) per month. We are currently in 'Season Three', which began on January 26th and concludes May 18, 2025.
Each free session consists of three main parts:
1.) Meditation> We begin promptly at 10:00 a.m. (please arrive by 9:50 a.m. to settle in) for 20 minutes of quiet, short-practice, open form (unguided), sitting meditation. All meditation styles and practitioner experience levels are welcome. We are peer-led, Open & Affirming, Inclusive & Non-Denominational.
There is no cost to attend. No RSVP is needed. Drop-In OK!
Simple meditation instructions are available. Please request from a facilitator upon arrival, if needed.
On arrival, please enter the meditation space QUIETLY (without discussion) to help foster an atmosphere of focus and calm for other attendees and to better prepare for the meditation session.
Please SILENCE ALL PHONES & DEVICES. If you must enter/exit for any reason, please do quietly.
Chairs are provided. Please bring your own sitting cushion or floor mat, if preferred. Flickering candles are lit and a white noise fan is on for focus/concentration purposes.
To begin, as a group, we will read an opening Statement of Aspiration on printed handout (participation optional) followed by ringing of the bowl to start the 20 minute sitting mediation session. After 20 mins, the bowl will again ring to mark the end of the sitting session time.
To end, as a group, we will read a short Dedication of Merit statement on printed handout (participation optional). By dedicating merit, we express our gratitude for the opportunity to practice and share together as a group. The words also serve as a reminder that we practice not only for ourselves, but for the benefit of all the people in our lives and in the world.
Note, on Sunday's we are not “teaching how to meditate”. Many free meditation instruction resources are available online or, request these basic instruction handouts (below) from a facilitator on arrival.
2.) High Vibes Discussion Group> Practitioners are invited to stay after meditation for the 'High Vibes Discussion Group' to explore various meditation topics each session. Specific topics are detailed beforehand on both our Facebook and Instagram pages.
To start, we usually watch a video (15-20 mins)to introduce the session topic.
Then, we discuss the concepts in regards to our own lives and experiences. You are welcome to attend, listen, and share in the conversation, if you feel comfortable. It is a safe space for open discussion (rather than a support or counseling group).
We invite and encourage differing views and beliefs, questions and curiosities. We are a peer-led group with the intent to encourage, uplift, and expand understanding through deliberate co-creation.
There is no cost to attend. No RSVP is needed. Drop-In OK!
Discussion Group begins at approx 10:45 am, usually lasting until about Noon.
Previous High Vibes Discussion Group topics can be found here.
*Note: Sunday Drive meditation is not required to join us for the High Vibes Discussion Group, nor vice versa. You may attend both -or- either/or, if preferred.
3.) Collective Activities> About once per month, after the High Vibes Discussion Group, participants are invited to stay for various Collective Activities. This is also time for further discussion/questions, sometimes coffee/snacks (when the Artist Cafe is open) and fellowship with other attendees and facilitators. Past activities have ranged from simple worksheets expanding on that sessions topic, to trying out different meditation techniques, doing a holiday craft, creating a group Spring Mandala and most recently making an Autumn Equinox Nature Loom!
Specific activities are detailed beforehand on both our Facebook and Instagram pages.
There is no cost to participate in Collective Activities and all supplies are provided.
Collective Activities usually conclude at approx 1pm – stay for all or part of this special events as your time allows.
